Professor Desmeules has over 40 years of experience in medicine and is internationally recognized for his expertise in the following areas: pain management and preventive health assessment.
He obtained his medical degree in 1987, then specialized in internal medicine, clinical pharmacology, and toxicology (1995), and underwent advanced training in palliative care (London, 1988) and neurophysiopharmacology (Paris, 1990–1992). From 2015 to 2022, he is Head of the Division of Clinical Pharmacology and Toxicology at Geneva University Hospitals (HUG).
Professor Desmeules has led clinical research in precision medicine, drug metabolism, and neurophysiological evaluation of chronic painHe is the author of over 200 publications and 6,000 citations. He has directed major university programs, including the Master of Advanced Studies in Toxicology and the Diploma in Clinical Trial Management at the University of Geneva.
At Dr. Dong's clinic, Professor Desmeules heads the infectious diseases working group.
