He obtained his medical degree in 1987, then specialized in internal medicine, clinical pharmacology and toxicology (1995), and took advanced training in palliative care (London, 1988) and neurophysiopharmacology (Paris, 1990-1992). From 2015 to 2022, he will be Head of the Clinical Pharmacology and Toxicology Division at Geneva University Hospitals (HUG).
Professor Desmeules has conducted clinical research in the fields of precision medicine, drug metabolism and the neurophysiological assessment of chronic pain, and is the author of over 200 publications and 6,000 citations.
